What experience do you have in the “fitness world?”
I have been involved with sports and recreational activities since I was very young. I also, supervised six summers of recreational programs, coached junior high and high school sports for over 25 years. While in the coaching realm worked with student athletes developing workout programs targeting the sport they were in. The last 33 years I have been teaching physical education focusing on teaching elementary and middle school kids how to become physically active and to lead a healthy life style into adulthood.
Why do you want to be a personal trainer at the Community Center?
An opportunity to work with adults was a vision of mine since 2001 when Redwood Valley Middle School was blessed with a Federal grant to provide funds to develop a program targeting childhood obesity. It was then I realized the importance to teach youth about developing healthy habits early that could carry over into adulthood. Now I have the opportunity to use that knowledge to share with and help others to lead a healthy lifestyle with adults. I am very excited to work at the fitness center and begin a new journey in the fitness world.
